While we were taking the picture of the Fronton before setting-off, we met Neil and Tita, also students walking the GR10, they had spotted a freckly Karen with a sun hat in the mist and instantly knew we were British. We were to see them on and off for the next few days, until about the time when we met the 'Good Doctor'.
Climbing out of the mist onto the Crête d'Iparla was a wonderful experience, with mountain tops floating on the mist. Once on top, I managed to tread on a snake, though I didn't see it myself, bit of a shock, but I didn't scream unlike Karen, who continued on with tales of a ten-footer as thick as my legs dripping venom...
...no like I say, couldn't have been that big as I never saw it, even as it slithered-off.
Quickly, however, the mist was burnt-off and we spent a hot and thirsty day with no shelter or water until we were almost in St-Étienne-de-Baïgorry, apart that is, from a solitary tree about 2 miles beforehand. It was, however, a fine tree, with a stream, where we ate. Just as we left, Neil and Tita arrived - they were running almost an hour later than us. Eventually we all ended-up in the same campsite, which was near a supermarket - provisions were rapidly becoming our number one priority, as they were much harder to find than expected.
